Crazy for cats

A is crazy about the idea of cats. Actual cats, not so much. She had a bad experience with one a few months ago, and now just prefers to look, and squeal. Cats aren't that crazy about her either... mostly due to the squealing. She was delighted with this cat dress. So much so, that when she found the bib unsewn with the cat on it (where I'd left it after stitching the nose & mouth), she carried it around and got it dirty before I sewn anything. That normally happens within 3 seconds of something being put on, but it usually safe before it gets finished.

I didn't get the fit very well on this one. I got overly confident with my sizing estimates, and made it too small. I also didn't like the applique that much... too wonky around the edges. I don't usually do blanket stitch, and I now see why. It's hard to get a smooth curve. But, my customer is very pleased with herself in it, and it seems comfortable. It's a great pattern, and one I'll try again.
Pattern: Ottobre Design 01/2011 Design #8.

  1. I've been wanting to try this pattern - do you think it'd work in a knit? I'd still use the ribbing for around the waist.

Very cute! And I think the embroidery looks fine - I've seen wonkier edges in RTW!

    Great job!
